Mark the Points of No Return. 2015 "Non-Fiction", De Cacaofabriek Helmond, NL.
Mark the Points of No Return was my contribution to the New Brabant Front (Collective) group exhibition Non-Fiction at De Cacaofabriek, Helmond: I started out with fragments of my old artworks on a field opposite the exhibition space. From the opening night onward I stayed on the field for 13 days and 13 nights and built myself a shack / habitat from these fragments (wearing my opening suit during the whole period). I brought rice, water and canned food and didn't leave the field. The shabby shack / habitat highly contrasted the recently developed area and art centre, and being boxed in by De Cacaofabriek, a parking lot, the road, the canal and the train tracks, gathered a lot of both positive and negative attention. People would visit out of curiosity to see, talk and ask questions about my purpose, the legality of the shack, the references to refugees, the homeless etc. After a while they would start bringing me food, fruit, water and drinks. Photo's: Peter Cox. Video: Levroi Film & Media Video: Mark the Points of No Return (fragment above) was shot on the last day of my stay in my shack. Video duration: 6:40 min. full color / stereo in HD & 4K quality. English subtitles. |
