Future Artifacts 2014 "DordtYart 2014" April until September 2014. In collaboration with Ajla R. Steinvåg (a.k.a. Class of Outcasts).
Future Artifacts is a nomadic station that balances between being an obsolete laboratory and an artist’s studio. Based on an idea from Philip K. Dick’s novel The Penultimate Truth, where an artist was asked to create fake artefacts to influence events in the future, we worked inside our setting on ‘future artifacts’: objects that were later buried in the soil surrounding the exhibition space, only to be found in a distant future. This work was realised with the generous support of the Mondriaan Fund. Dimensions: approx. 8 x 10 x 3,5 m. Materials: aluminum, wood, steel, epoxy, tarp, sheet, plastic palm tree, various lab equipment. Photo's: Peter Cox Interview with Ajla and me HERE |
