The Scene Changes (15 October- 08 December 2024)
Solo Exhibition at the GAFA Art Museum, Guangzhou, CN. The Scene Changes was a video-based solo exhibition that showcases 2 triptych video installations and two single screen video-works. The Desert Here and the Desert Far Away (2024) had it's international premiere at the museum. In this triptych, three scenes take place in very different kinds of landscapes, that are connected by the appearance of a mysterious object. This object changes the character that finds it and consequently sets off various events within these scenes. It is a story in three parts that plays with the concepts of time and space, and addresses the relation between mankind and nature, technology, and each other. The Pump Jack Gang / Firestarter / The Wound (2022) This triptych the three video's were shot for a show at the Paltzbiënnale '22 on location at the Paltz estate. The video's are 'extreme visual metaphors' for things we see happening in the world, and address the relation between mankind and nature, technology, and each other. Kråken (2019) Is a short video shot in the north of Norway. It depicts a man in a suit, standing on the rocks, crowing into the void, seemingly waiting for a reply. A Lot of Brutes have been Clipped Here (2011) This video is a full documentation of the performance with the same name from 2011 in which 2 demolition cranes attack three parked cars on a parking lot. The attack becomes a slow choreography in which the cranes seem to become predators devouring their prey. Besides that, the wall collage God's Stereo (16 x 9 m.) was created on the spot in collaboration with Henny Overbeek. It showcases material from three artist books made by Segers & Overbeek, that were also included in the collage. |
